Ellis submitted his audition tape, but ultimately, the role went to Pedro Pascal, known for his work in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. Ellis humorously remarked, "He's not in much, but he's great! I'm excited to see it; the trailer looks fun."
But what does it feel like to miss out on such a high-profile project? Ellis pondered, "I understand the disappointment, but I truly enjoy the process. It's the what-if that keeps us going."
Ellis added, "We all dreamed of being in this industry. Those who say they don't dream anymore are either too cynical or should find a new passion."
Pascal's take on Reed received positive reviews, and he previously shared his thoughts on joining the MCU and reimagining the Fantastic Four: "Each new project brings a unique challenge. Going from Game of Thrones to DC, Star Wars, and then gaming was an atom bomb of storytelling. Anchoring myself to the authorship and colleagues of this Fantastic Four project was the perfect antidote to the pressure."
