According to The Sun, the gate's permanent closure was ordered due to the impending designation of part of the park as an exclusion area, protected under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. The lack of public consultation has sparked dissatisfaction among neighbors, who feel the sudden change impacts their access to the park.
